Environmental Economics and Industrial Sustainability Society is a not-for-profit, member-governed, organization dedicated to advancing understanding of the relationships among ecological, social, and economic systems for the mutual well-being of nature and people.

Our goal is to help many of the world’s leading companies anticipate and create business value from sustainable development trends and issues. Our unique, hybrid approach – part think tank, part consultancy – provides agenda-setting foresight on the critical environmental, social and governance issues facing business and society, and catalyzes transformative innovation and leadership in our clients. Our diverse team and network allow us to look creatively at business and societal challenges, and enable us to help clients think more strategically and creatively themselves about the products, services and business models that will ensure their long-term competitiveness.

The Society also assists its members and economists, regional societies and other organizations in matters of common environmental concern which as can be dealt with more effectively by united action. To this end, the Society publishes a research journal, books, and other materials; holds and sponsors environmental conferences, scientific meetings; develops educational materials; and facilitates a voice for ecological economists in public forums.

Ecological economics exists because a hundred years of disciplinary specialization in scientific inquiry has left us unable to understand or to manage the interactions between the human and environmental components of our world. In an interconnected evolving world, ideas on how to formulate and solve problems that stem from the interactions between humans and the natural world is what we do.
